Lillian van Veen (b. Seattle, 2003) is an artist working in painting, soft sculpture, and video. Their work explores bodily control, gender, and embodiment. They are interested in the relationship between clothing and the body, the power of clothing as a signifier, and in pursuing continued relationships with disparate parts of the self through the reimagining of garments as art objects, and art objects as garments. Their work is informed greatly by queer masculinity.
