Lillian van Veen (b. Seattle, 2003) is an artist working in painting, soft sculpture, and video. Their practice investigates the relationship between queer bodies and the clothes they wear, drawing from a personal archive of vestigial garments. They are interested in the use of clothing as a tool for social signaling, and in pursuing continued relationships with disparate parts of the self through the reimagining of garments as unwearable art objects. Their work is informed greatly by queer masculinity.
